Make 2015 your most productive year yet by doing more of the one thing that matters: focusing.
The New Year brings in new opportunities and challenges for businesses which is why it’s the perfect time to get your business house in order.
Here is a To Do List for 2015 New Year Resolutions
1. I often use this quote by Benjamin Franklin “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail” Each morning I start off with a list of accomplishments I aim to do that day. It doesn’t mean that I will complete them all but it keeps me on track.
2. Keep meetings to a maximum of 15 mins.
Have an agenda ready with items to be discussed and if staff member gets off the path, ease them back into the agenda items to be discussed and avoid unnecessary discussions that can be dealt with other individuals separately.
3. Set up systems that increase productivity.
When running a business “time is of the essence” so streamline everything that needs to be run efficiently. If it means investing in better technology to make you faster and more efficient then do so.
4. Improve your work area.
Does your desk like a disaster area? Have you got piles of paper everywhere? Being overwhelmed by paperwork can seriously hamper your business prospects so clean up and organise your desk. To be more organised and efficient I now have two monitors on my desk where I can view more information, organise and focus on my work day and not lose track of all my documents and windows.
5. Stop multitasking.
You may think by multitasking that you are being more productive but studies have shown that you’re not. It is better to focus on one task at a time that trying hard to do multiple tasks really well at the same time.
6. Spend less time on emails.
Last year my New Year Resolution was to unsubscribe from all the email listings that constantly invaded my inbox every day. Best thing I achieved was by eliminating all these unnecessary emails it meant I was no longer tempted to spend wasteful hours reading them. Allocate time to read your emails and only respond to if necessary.
7. Take time out to reflect.
Reflection allows you the opportunity to be grateful for what you have and set out the right goals to strive for.
